Gothic Romance Lending Library
Gothic Journal is pleased to announce the launch in August 1996 of the
Gothic Romance Lending Library (GRLL). This non-profit organization is
sponsored by Gothic Journal and housed in the home of Rod and Pat Christian
in Spokane, WA, USA. Library users may order from two to eight books at
one time and keep them for approximately one month. Books can only be shipped
to US and APO/FPO addresses.

Lending Fees
$5.00 for first two books
$.50 for each additional book
$1.00 surcharge per hardcover book
Up to 8 books allowed in total order.
Add $4.00 per order for Priority Mail shipment.
Lending fees include postpaid mailing label for return of shipment
to the library.
GRLL Lending Agreement
By the due date specified, Lendee will mail all borrowed books back to
the GRLL in good condition using the prepaid mailer provided, or forfeit
future GRLL privileges. If a book is damaged during use or shipment, Lendee
agrees to return the damaged book and pay a $5.00 damaged book fee. If
a requested book is unavailable, shipment will include a similar book or
a coupon good for a free book (in addition to the first two paid-for books)
in a future GRLL book order, per the Lendee's instructions at time of order.
Donations
We also welcome donations of books to the library. We are particularly
interested in receiving, and thus preserving, classic historical gothic
romances. However, we will also gratefully accept contemporary romantic
suspense novels, romantic mysteries, supernatural romances (provided they
contain a puzzle or mystery), and woman-in-jeopardy romances. In short,
the library seeks books that contain romance, life-threatening suspense,
and a puzzle or mystery. We are also interested in receiving duplicates
of titles currently in our library, because we often get simultaneous requests
for the same book. You might consider donating your personal library to
the Gothic Romance Lending Library in your will. Rest assured that they
will have a good home. Other gothic lovers will enjoy them in perpetuity.
If you see gothics on sale for a reasonable price at a garage
sale or used book store, please consider snapping them up and donating
them to the library. We would hate to see these valuable treasures end
up in a dumpster when we could be preserving them for enjoyment by other
gothic lovers.
Monetary donations of any amount are also appreciated. They help
us place ads and send out mailings to let others know about the library.
Donations of books or money are tax deductible. Books are valued at
their original cover price. We will provide you with a receipt for your
donation, for tax purposes.
Ordering Books
You must order at least two books per order; each order can contain from
two to eight books.
Send the following with your order:
Your name, address, and phone number
The shipping address, if different
The book titles, authors' names, and whether they are paperback or
hardcover editions
Indicate whether you want a coupon or a similar book sent to you (choose
one of these two options) if a book you ordered is not available.
Books are normally shipped via Media Mail,
which can take 2-5 weeks.
To expedite receipt of your order, enclose an additional $4.00 for
Priority Mail shipment and write "PLEASE RUSH" on your order.
Enclose check payable to Gothic Romance Lending Library and send your
